On a Train Results

The results are in from the Missouri Highway Patrol's Officer On A Train Program.

Missouri Highway Patrol Sergeant Sheldon Lyons says the program was a joint effort with the Patrol, St. Joseph Police Department, Operation Lifesaver and Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad. Officers rode on the train, in an effort to catch drivers committing crossing violations at railroad tracks. Sergeant Lyons says this program is more than just a watchdog project.

Lyons says officers issued 16 summonses for crossing violations during the two-hour operation. Officers also wrote seven summonses for other traffic violations as well
