The Council on Public Higher Education has elected a new chair to serve a two-year term.
Northwest Missouri State University President, Dr John Jasinski, was elected by his peers to serve for the Council on Public Higher Education, effective immediately. The organization is composed of the presidents and chancellors of 13 four-year public higher education institutions in Missouri. Dr. Jasinski is succeeding retiring University of Missouri-Columbia Chancellor Brady Deaton and has served the past two years as vice-chair. Clifton M Smart, president of Missouri State University will now serve the two-year term as vice-chair.
In April, Jasinski assumed the role of chairperson of the panel of judges for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the nation's highest honor for organizational performance excellence. Jasinski also serves as the chair of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities committee on professional development. Among other affiliations, Jasinski chairs the Northwest Missouri p-20 Council and is an editorial board member of the Journal of Audio and Radio. Dr. John Jasinski began his presidency at Northwest in 2009.
