MPS Textcaster Alert System

Maryville Public Safety officials' search for a missing person last week included the use of modern technology in alerting the public.

A text message through the city of Maryville's textcaster program was sent to residents subscribing to the service. Maryville Public Safety Lieutenant Ron Christian says the person was found safe a short time later through the use of more traditional search methods but says the textcaster program has been beneficial in their investigations in many other instances.
