Field Day for Ham Radio

Amateur radio operators, often referred to as "hams", will have the opportunity to test their emergency communications skills next weekend.

The Missouri Amateur Radio Club in St. Joseph will hold the event "Field Day" which occurs every June. Club President Steve Hendrix, says this event helps test the readiness of radio operators in times of emergency.

Hendrix says the operators will also be learning Morse Code, which he says has recently had a resurgence in popularity.

Hendrix says Field Day will be located atop Wyeth Hill in St. Joseph, and will begin at noon this Saturday, and will continue through noon on Sunday. For more information on this event, contact Steve Hendrix at 816-279-4079.
