Armyworms in Nodaway County

Farmers in eastern Nodaway County may face a new type of threat to their crops.

Armyworm infestations have been discovered in both grass pastures and wheat fields. According to University of Missouri Agronomist Wayne Flanary armyworms are becoming a growing threat to farmland in the area.

Flanary says there are a couple precautionary measures farmers should take to help prevent the spread of armyworm infestations.

Flanary urges farmers who may have questions concerning problems with armyworms to contact their local University Extension office.
