Across the country last week, more than 10 thousand women took part in National Women's Build week.
Habitat For Humanity in St. Joseph teamed up with Lowes and The St. Joseph Blacksnakes Roller Girls, Saturday to build a home for the Berry Family. For the third year in a row, Lowes Hardware contributed 5 thousand dollars for the project. According to Volunteer coordinator for St. Joseph Habitat for Humanity, Rita Boyer, the money was used to help replace and upgrade their equipment.
According to Boyer, one of the Blacksnakes previously volunteered for habitat. After the experience, she brought her teammates along for this weekends build. Boyer says Women's Build Week helps bring new volunteers into the organization.
Nationally, Women's Build Week donated 1.75 Million to 300 Habitat affiliates.
