Northwest Medical Center in Albany recently installed a high-tech security system.
The system, which began running yesterday, is for the Emergency Room Department. The new system allows Northwest Medical Center to remotely turn on it's existing Emergency Room doors into access control doors without disrupting people entering the building. The method replaces the push button entry and use of manual locks and keys. While the Emergency room department and services remain available 24- 7, the doors to the E-R entrance will be locked from 9pm until 6am. The staff will unlock the doors for people seeking treatment.
