Maryville City Council decides 19 vs 21 issue

After ten month's of discussion the Maryville City Council in a 3-2 vote decided to keep the entry age for residents to enter drinking establishments the same at age 19.

Persons age 19 can frequent a drinking establishment be can not legally drink alcoholic beverages until they are 21. Maryville Mayor Jim Fall cast the deciding vote on the issue.

Maryville Public Safety Director Keith Wood presented to the Council last night a nine point study on issues to be reviewed on how to control drinking problems in the community...including Drinking in Public, Nuisance Parties, Drink Specials at bars and noise Restrictions for drinking establishments.
