Invasive Species

With Memorial Day approaching, precautions should be taken for anyone boating or camping over the holiday weekend.

The Missouri Department of Conservation asks boaters and campers to watch for pests such as Emerald Ash Borers, Zebra Mussels, and Gypsy Moths on land and water. Missouri Department of Conservation Spokesman, Jim Low, says Zebra Mussels are dangerous for watercraft.

Low says since these pests are not native to Missouri, it is important to check your boating and camping equipment if you are doing either outside of Missouri
