Bike Month

May is National Bike Month and in addition to promoting exercise, it is about encouraging Missouri communities to make their cities more bicycle-friendly.

Executive Director of the Missouri Bicycle and Pedestrian Federation Brent Hugh says there are a number of events going on this month for enthusiasts or casual bikers to participate in.

As most bicycling happens on neighborhood streets, Hugh encourages bicyclists to stay safe and obey all traffic signs and laws the same as an automobile.

Hugh also reminds vehicle drivers to keep an eye out for bicyclists year-round, as America has an average of approximately 2 million active bicyclists on the road each year.
