Trenton National Guard

The Missouri Army National Guard 548th Transportation Company out of Trenton, Missouri closed the final chapter of their recent deployment to Afghanistan on April 6th.

Nearly one year after returning home the unit has been awarded their first Meritorious Unit Citation for distinguishing itself while practicing tactical convoy operations. Public affairs representative Jennifer Archdekin says the award sets this unit apart from others for going above and beyond what was expected of them.

During deployment the unit completed over 300 convoy missions, logged more than 450,000 miles through some of Afghanistan harshest terrains, and delivered critical supplies to hard to reach locations across the desert. During the unit's missions members were awarded seven bronze star medals, 40 combat action badges, 3 purple hearts,, 50 impact Army achievement medals as well as 160 end of tour awards.
