National Walking Day

National Walking Day is celebrated every year on the first Wednesday of April.

Created by the American Heart Association in an effort to decrease risk of heart disease, National Walking Day reminds everyone to simply be active. Public Health Nurse at the Nodaway County Health Department, Tabitha Frank, says daily inactivity is a large contributor to the rising probability of heart disease.

Frank adds decreasing fat and salt in your diet, along with eating fresh fruits and vegetables can go a long way for an individual's health. National Walking Day 2013 is tomorrow, April 3rd.
