Akins Promotion

An Albany resident has been promoted up the ranks of the Missouri Army National Guard.

Master Sergeant Tim Akins is the new operations sergeant to the only field artillery unit in Missouri. Akins has worked as the readiness noncommissioned officer for Battery A, 1-129th Field Artillery in Albany for several years. He now works for Headquarters Battalion, 1-129th Field Artillery in Maryville, which maintains three firing batteries from Albany, Maryville, and Independence. Akins supervises the training operations of the battalion and is currently planning this year's annual training event, which will include a live-fire exercise.
