MoDot 100 Years

On March 22nd, 1913, the Missouri General Assembly created the State Highway Department.

That department was the precursor to the Missouri Department of Transportation. One hundred years later, MoDot has seen and undergone many changes. MoDot spokesperson DeAnne Rickabaugh says from 1913 to the 30s, a lot of road building equipment was mule and man powered.
