Jefferson Kids Proposition

The Jefferson C-1-2-3 School District will be seeking voters approval next month for a bond issue to fund the remodel and renovation of their facilities. The district is again pushing proposition KIDS which stands for Keep Improving District Schools. Prop KIDS is asking for one point seven five million dollars to develop, construct and equip a new gymnasium as well as make improvements to their existing structure. Jefferson C-1-2-3 Superintendent Rob Dowis says the school district could benefit in many ways if this proposition passes.

Dowis adds the last time Proposition Kids was on the ballot it received a 53 percent favorable vote- falling just shy of the 57 percent approval vote needed to pass. This time around if passed- Dowis says the adjusted debt service levy for the district would be 75 cents per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation of real and personal property down from the previous proposal of 89 cents.
