Fire Station Renovation

A St. Joseph Fire Station is getting a facelift.

Fire Station number four, located at 3458 Ashland Avenue in St. Joseph is undergoing renovations this week. Demolition has begun, removing the apparatus bay, concrete floor and side rooms from the station. City of St. Joseph Public Information Officer Mary Robertson says Station number four is on of the city's newer-old stations.

Robertson adds the renovation project will cost just over 700 thousand dollars and is funded through the Capital Improvement Program half-cent sales tax. Once demolition work is complete construction of the new rooms will begin and last approximately six months.
