Statewide Tornado Drill

Next week is Missouri Severe Weather Awareness week.

The National Weather service wants Missourians to use this time to plan and prepare for the upcoming severe weather season. The Weather Service will conduct the 39th annual statewide tornado drill Tuesday at 1:30 in the afternoon. National Weather Service Meteorologist, Andy Bailey, says awareness and preparation are important for everyone.

Bailey says if severe weather is forecast for Tuesday, the statewide tornado drill will be moved to Thursday. During the drill, Missouri outdoor warning sirens and weather alert radios will sound, indicating you should seek shelter. The safest shelter location is in the basement or an interior room in the lowest level of a building.
