Red Light Cameras in St. Joe

It will be tougher to get away with running a red light at two busy intersections in St. Joseph.

Red light safety cameras have been placed at the intersections of Belt and Frederick Avenue as well as Belt and Cook Road. The cameras became operational Friday and all violators will receive a warning for the next thirty days. After the grace period, beginning February seventeenth all violators will be issued citations. Public Information Officer with the St. Joseph Police Department, Captain Matt Rock says he hopes the cameras will create a safer environment on the roads throughout the city.

Rock says the cameras will be working twenty four hours a day and will capture images of every vehicle running a red light at the chosen intersections.
