Maryville City Council Approves CID

The Maryville City Council approved the formation of a Community Improvement District for the Mary Mart Shopping Center on South Main.

Maryville City Manager Greg McDanel says the Council's action will enable the Mary Mart Community District to generate revenue to renovate the vacant storefronts in the shopping center.

Vice-President of the Mary Mart Corporation, Mark Watkins, says the formation of the C-I-D will bring two new businesses to Maryville. Rue 21 and the Dollar Tree. Watkins says his corporation is also in talks with other retail businesses.

Watkins says the C-I-D is estimated to generate over one-point-five million dollars over it's thirty year life which will be used to reimburse the corporation for it's cost of preparing space for tenants.
