A 50 year old Omaha man has been identified as the motorist killed earlier this week in a confrontation with a Missouri Highway Patrolman in Holt County.
According to a report from the Missouri Highway Patrol, Thomas E Schroeder was southbound on I-29 near Craig, Missouri Monday night and initially stopped for speeding and then arrested for driving while intoxicated. Schroeder resisted arrest and was fatally wounded when the trooper fired his weapon. The Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control investigators discovered several driver's licenses and other forms of I-D in Schroeder's possession, making positive identification difficult. Investigators were able to make the correct identification last night after contacting family members.
