Last year, troopers investigated only 163 crashes during the holiday counting period. One fatality accident was reported in the Troop H coverage area. That accident occurred yesterday on Interstate 35, nine miles south of Bethany, Missouri. John E. Moss, 51, of Jackson, Tennessee was traveling south in a freightliner tractor and trailer when he drove off the roadway, down an embankment and struck the embankment. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
