Gov. Jay Nixon said a recent jobs report is just another sign the state's economy is headed in the right direction.
Governor Nixon released a statement showing that Missouri employers added 10,200 jobs in December. Nixon met with leaders from General Motors, Ford and other automotive manufacturers in Detroit during the North American International Auto Show. The jobs report showed strong gains in manufacturing. With dramatic expansions underway at Ford, General Motors and auto suppliers across Missouri, the strong jobs report is another one of many positive signs that Missouri's economy continues to move in the right direction according to Nixon Missouri's unemployment rate is still below the national average, according to the December figures compiled by the state's Department of Economic Development. The rate remained at 6.7 percent after Missouri employers added 10,200 new jobs.
