Flu Slow to Reach Nodaway County

The Flu bug is reaching epidemic numbers nationwaide but it hasn't hit Nodaway County in large numbers yet.

That's according to Nodaway County Health Department Public Health Nurse Tabetha Frank. Frank says she does anticipate seeing increased reports of influenza in northwest Missouri in the next few weeks.

Frank says her office has seen an increased number of patients reporting gastro-intestinal illnesses which she says can be confused with the flu.

Frank encourages anyone who hasn't received their flu shot to do so. She says this year's vaccine has proven effective in reducing the affects of the flu strain going around the country.
