Community Garden Grant

Northwest Missouri State University will receive a grant to construct a community garden.

The garden will be located north of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The vision of Associate Professor of Soil Science, Dr. Jamie Patton, and graduate student Grace Becker will come to reality after receiving a fifty thousand dollar grant from the Missouri Natural Resources Conservation Service. The grant provides the funds for the People's Garden to be constructed. The garden will be open to the community and will feature produce and sensory items. Patton hopes the garden will provide more food for the Maryville Ministry Center as well as educate her students.

Patton says Becker presented the idea for the project to her last May and it is expected to be in full operation by this fall.
