Alcohol Violation Report

The Maryville City Council heard a report last night from Public Safety Director Keith Wood comparing alcohol laws and enforcement with two other Missouri communities with state universities.

Maryville allows residents 19 and over to enter bars but not drink while Warrensburg and Kirksville does not allow anyone under 21 in drinking establishments. Wood's study indicates the number of alcohol related offenses in all three communities have been going down since 2007.

The Maryville City Council plans to hear more input from the community and University students before considering a change to the current ordinance affecting minors in drinking establishments.
