Bearcats defeat Missouri Southern Lions

The Northwest Missouri State Bearcat football team defeated the Missouri Southern Lions for the 18th straight time with a 38-14 win in Joplin Saturday.

Bearcat head football coach Adam Dorrel says a big key was jumping out to an early lead against the option-oriented Lions.

James Franklin rushed for three touchdowns and the Bearcat defense recorded two interceptions...with Travis Manning and Nate DeJong picking off Kellen Cox passes. Northwest improves to 7-1 overall and 6-1 in the MIAA...Missouri Southern falls to 5-3 overall and 4-3 in the conference. Northwest heads back on the road this Saturday for one o'clock kick off with Washburn in Topeka. Washburn edged Lindenwood Saturday 19-16 scoring with 23 seconds left to give them the victory.
