Race to the Top Grant denied

Northwest Missouri School District officials involved in applying for a "Race to the Top" funding learned this week they will not be receiving that grant.

The Maryville School District served as the lead school in the effort to qualify for the federal grant that would have helped fund the continuation of the Aces Alternative School in Northwest Missouri and individual learning opportunities in the cooperating school districts. Maryville Superintendent Larry Linthacum says the Northwest Missouri group was notified they were a finalist but would not be one of the recipients of the "Race to the Top" grant.

Linthacum says while the funding is not available to offer the ACES Alternative School to the consortium  of Northwest Missouri school districts...the Maryville District will continue to provide a similar program to it's students.
