Pedestrian Hurt in Accident

A 49 year old St. Joseph man was seriously injured last night after being struck by his own parked vehicle on I-229 two miles south of St. Joseph.

According to a report from the Missouri Highway Patrol...Ricki Lyon was standing outside his pick up which was partially parked in the driving lane of northbound I-229 facing south when the vehicle was struck by pick up driven by 47 year old William Harrelson of St. Joseph. The impact pushed Lyon's vehicle into Lyon pinning him into the guardrail. Lyon was taken by ambulance to Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph and treated for serious injuries.
