Molly Pitcher Award

An Albany woman recently received the Honorable Order of Molly Pitcher award.

Robyn Akins is the wife of Sergeant First Class Tim Akins of Battery A, 1-129th Field Artillery Battalion in Albany. The honor is named after Molly Pitcher, who manned her husband's gun in battle after he was wounded in 1778 during the American Revolutionary War. The honor recognizes women who voluntarily contribute in a significant way to the improvement of the field artillery communities. Missouri National Guard Public Affairs Representative Jennifer Archdekin says Robyn Akins serves as the treasurer for the battery's Family Readiness Group.
