News Brief

Dec. 21, 2012Brookfield, Wi |  By: Bailey

Normally, the Brookfield and Marceline School districts are fierce rivals.

This past month, the two worked together to win the USA Today High School Rivalry Contest. The contest for the biggest high school rivalry was based on the history of the rivalry and what it meant to the schools. The Brookfield Marceline Rivalry won the statewide contest, the regional contest and the national contest. The best rivalry competition began on November 19 with 153 rivalries. Executive Director of the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce, Paul Frey (FRI) says both communities are thrilled with this win and can't wait to see what is in store for the Midwest.

The two towns have a combined population of 6,500 and managed to garner 1 million 761 thousand, 259 votes in just one week. Frey (FRI) hopes this will put Brookfield and Marceline on the map for people to see what both teams are capable of accomplishing.
