The city of Maryville has applied for $110,000 in grant funds which would be designated toward repairing homes around town.
The Missouri Housing Development Commission provides funding through the Home Repair Opportunity Program to offer home repair to non-metropolitan areas within the state. City Manager Greg McDanel says if the HeRO grant application is approved, the money will go to repairing low to moderate income housing within the community. Eligible Maryville homeowners could receive up to $20,000 for repairs, according to the M-H-D-C. If the city is approved, property owners will be given notice to fill out applications to be considered for the money. There has not been a date determined on when the city should know its application status. The city has participated in this project in previous years and McDanel says the funds are in high demand.McDanel says the city plans to continue this project annually as long as the funding is available.
