Deadly Crash in St. Joseph

St. Joseph Police Department officials are releasing more details concerning a deadly 3-vehicle accident yesterday afternoon at the intersection of 11th and 22nd.

The accident occurred when a stolen Chevy pick up traveling at a high rate of speed collided with a van driven by 40 year old Joellen-L-Abbott. Abbott's van then struck the rear of a car driven by 52 year old Geri-L-Cranfield Abbott died as the result of injuries sustained in the accident. The 4 occupants in the stolen pick up were taken by ambulance to Heartland Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor to moderate injuries. 2 of the occupants both 16 years old are in custody at the Buchanan County Juvenile Detention Center with charges pending. The St. Joseph Police Department is still investigating the crash...the Buchanan County Sheriff's Department is investigating the theft of the Chevy pick up from rural Buchanan County.
