Trapping Regulations

Maryville City Council passed an ordinance which will affect trapping at Mozingo Lake.

The ordinance went into effect Monday and allows anyone with a permit to trap Beavers and Muskrats at Mozingo. The Missouri Department of Conservation suggested the change last year to stop Erosion problems at the lake. Beavers and Muskrats burrow into the bank of the lake and create dens. The dens cave in after a period of time, causing erosion. Mozingo Park Manager Grant Evans says trapping the animals will help.
