Police Award

The Saint Joseph Police Department was given an award related to its Alcohol Task Force.

The Midland Empire Alcohol Task Force is a multi-jurisdictional unit that focuses on underage drinking and tobacco use. The unit was awarded the John W. Britt Community Service Award by the National Liquor Law Enforcement Association. Captain Matt Rock of the Saint Joseph Police Department says that one of the unit's successes has been its teaching and partnering with businesses to prevent underage drinking.

The award is one of four given by the N-L-L-E-A at its annual conference and is awarded to organizations whose efforts support community involvement in liquor law compliance and education. Rock adds the MIdland Empire Alcohol Task Force includes several law enforcement agencies including the Buchanan and Nodaway County Sheriff's departments.
