Mercer County Accident

1 person died and 2 people are seriously injured after a 2 vehicle accident 6 miles west of Princeton on U-S 136 Friday afternoon.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 61 year old Madonna Kirchner of Hamilton, Illinois; 62 year old Richard Kirchner also from Hamilton; and 81 year old Lois Waldron of Keokuk, Iowa were traveling west on U-S 136 when they struck St. Joseph residents 19 year old Bryce Shields and 19 year old Ashton Holmes. Shields was stopped at a stop sign when he pulled out in front of Kirchner. The collision caused Kirchner to travel off the north side of the road hitting a ditch and a billboard where her vehicle came to rest. Her passenger, Waldron was pronounced dead at the scene. Kirchner, her husband, and Holmes were taken to Harrison County Hospital suffering serious injuries. Shields suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Waldron was the only one not wearing a seatbelt.
