E-Reader Checkout

The Livingston County Library now offers 2 Kindle Touch e-reader devices and 2 Nook Simple Touch e-reader devices available for checkout.

E-book use has grown tremendously and the Library's Missouri Libraries 2 Go downloadable e-book and audio program has been very successful with over 2,600 check-outs so far. The library received a grant for this program funded by the Library Services and Technologies Act through the U.S. Department of Museum and Library services. The grant not only provided the e-reader devices but also more technology usage for the library's patrons. Livingston County Library Director, Robin Westphal, says having this option available for patrons is special because it gives them a chance to try the device to see if they want to purchase one for themselves.

Library card holders 18 years of age and older, who have had a valid card for at least 6 months can now check out an e-reader for 2 weeks. A valid library card, clear of overdue items, fine and fees is needed. Devices will be on a first come, first serve basis; otherwise a waiting list is offered. For more information, you can reach the Livingston County Library at 660-646-0547.
