The U-S Department of Agriculture has awarded a Rural Business Opportunity Grant to a local foundation.

The Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri based in St. Joseph is a public charity with a mission of encouraging and promoting charitable giving in the area by connecting donors to the causes they care about. The Northwest chapter was awarded 32,500 dollars to use in partnership with the other nine Missouri Community Foundations. This money will be used to complete a Transfer of Wealth Study statewide. The Transfer of Wealth is an estimate of household estate wealth that will be transferred from one generation to the next. President and C-E-O of the Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri Mary Hinde says this survey will help get an idea of funds that could be used for non-profits to help locally.
