Northwest USDA Grant

Northwest Missouri State University will receive a grant to help develop an initiative to help meat producers and consumers.

Northwest and 2 other local organizations are to receive a $ 37,340 U-S-D-A Rural Business Enterprise Grant to help fiance and develop a business enterprise in rural areas. The USDA grant will support Market Opportunities for Regional Entrepreneurs, also known as MORE. MORE will hold a series of meetings for focus groups to make more connections in the area. Instructor of Agricultural Sciences and leader of MORE, Lurinda Gilliland says these meetings will make things easier to gather information.

A combination of Agricultural Sciences and Marketing students and faculty make up Northwest's MORE project. MORE aims to help businesses add value to beef products, save and create jobs in the beef industry, and to find market needs for value-added beef products.
