Funny Water Taste

Maryville residents may have noticed a change in the way their tap water tastes and smells in recent days.

City officials say the water remains safe to drink and use. Joe Finch is Lead Operator with People Service, Incorporated, a company under contract with the City of Maryville to maintain and service the city's water supply. He says the change in the taste of the water is a natural occurrence.

Finch says his company is required by state and federal governments to regularly test the water for safety and tests continue to indicate the water remains safe. He says in early October, the company will change the chemicals it adds to the water. He says the addition of chloramines will help reduce tastes and odors with the water supply in the future.
