Tire Recycling

Northwest Missouri residents will have another opportunity next month to get rid of old tires they may have around their homes.

The Northwest Regional Council of Governments will be collecting tire scraps at the Nodaway County Maintenance Barn in Maryville on Saturday, September 8th. Anyone is invited to participate from Atchison, Gentry, Holt, Nodaway and Worth Counties. Environmental Planner with the Regional Council of Governments, Linda Laderoute says there are some stipulations residents should keep in mind when dropping off their old tires.

They will also accept rims from car or light truck tires. Laderoute also adds this is for residents only. Businesses are not eligible to take part in this as they have their own rules established by the Missouri Department of National Resources for their disposal. This program is funded by a grant with the Northwest Missouri Regional Solid Waste Management District. Additional collections will be available on September 15th at the Maintenance Barn on Highway 136 in Albany and on the 22nd at the EnTire recycling facility, again on highway 136, just south of Rock Port in Phelps City.
