A high traffic street in St. Joseph, Missouri will soon be upgraded.
St Joseph Avenue is finally receiving long awaited improvements due to a grant from the Federal Highway Administration. The Community Alliance of St Joseph has secured $600,000 with help from the City of St Joseph. Director of the Community Alliance of St Joseph, Steve Johnston, says this grant allows them to get the improvements done, including widening sidewalks and easing traffic. The improvements will reach from Robidoux Middle School on the north, to Highland Avenue on the south. The grant is an 80-20 match, which means the City of St Joseph will also be contributing $150,000 to the project. Johnston adds this is a perfect example of partnerships at work, and he is excited about the collaboration efforts that have been put forth on this project.
