Red Cross Volunteers

The Midland Empire Red Cross Chapter in St. Joseph is one of several in the midwest sending volunteers to the Gulf area to assist in relief efforts from Hurricane Isaac.

Spokesperson for the St. Joseph chapter, Karla Long says many of the volunteers from St. Joseph are helping residents in the Gulf evacuate before the Hurricane hits.

Long says a dozen Red Cross workers from the St. Joseph area have been sent to Florida and the surrounding area to prepare for the troubles ahead, along with more than 1500 disaster workers from across the country sent to assist the Red Cross in their efforts.
