Aug. 9, 2012NORTHWEST MISSOURI | By: Totusek
The Northwest Missouri State University Police Department will conduct sobriety checkpoints at various locations on campus during the month of August.
The checkpoints will involve briefly stopping traffic to check for drivers who may be intoxicated. Impaired drivers will be arrested and all others will be allowed to proceed after a short delay. Northwest officials encourage students to take advantage of the Safe Rides Home transportation program if they plan to consume alcohol. Northwest obtained the funding for this operation from the Missouri Department of Transportation and through its participation in Missouri Partners in Prevents, a collaborative effort of campus and communities to address alcohol and drug abuse.
