Nebraska City Tax

The City Council of Nebraska City met last week to discuss several points, including a proposed city sales tax increase.

The tax would allow for building a new aquatic center to replace the current one and secondly, to introduce a new fiber-optics system for the school system and the city. City Administrator Joe Johnson says this kind of system would allow the city to grow with technology.

Johnson says the proposal would increase the Nebraska City sales tax from 1.5% to 2.0%. The proposal has been certified and will be on the November 6th ballot in Nebraska City.
