In Buchanan County, incumbant Democratic Sheriff Mike Strong defeated challenger Ron Fisher in yesterday's primary picking up 60 percent of the vote...Strong will face Patrick Grove in the November General Election as Grove won a closely contested race over Bill Puett.

Grove received 50.4 percent of the vote compared to Puett's 49.6 percent. The Republican Primary for Western District Commissioner in Buchanan County...Paul Kovak defeated Robert Miller picking up 68.5 percent of the vote. The City of St. Joseph voted to extend the Capitol Improvement sales tax for another 6 years. 72.7 percent cast their ballot in favor of the proposition. In Andrew County, Republican Paul Garrison won the Assessor's race defeating 3 challengers by picking up 38.4 percent of the vote.
