In yesterday's primary election in Holt County... in the Sheriff's race, Republican Scott Wedlock received just under 48 percent of the vote in defeating David Trauernicht and Kirby Felumb.

Republican Bill Gordon easily won the First District County Commissioners race with 77 percent of the vote defeating Michael Freeman. Democrat David Carroll captured the Holt County Second District nomination with 80 percent of the vote over Don Holstine and Republican LaDonna Jones just edged Julie McCully picking up 51 percent of the vote for the Holt County Assessor's position. In Atchison County, Democrat Richard Burke defeated Jack Vernon by 47 votes in the Southern District County Commission race primary. Burke will face Republican Alva Stoner in the November general election as Stoner defeated four others picking up 172 votes. The City of Tarkio's 2 percent local use tax question failed by 4 votes while the City of Fairfax's 1 percent local use tax received 3 more yes votes than no.
