Blood Shortage

Community Blood Center in St. Joseph is calling for blood donations in a summer with a shortage of both rain and donations.

Senior Donor Recruitment Representative, Carol Meyers says this is a challenging time as many donors are vacationing or out of school but with the extreme heat, the need is up. All blood types are needed, especially O negative, O positive, and A positive. Starting today and running through the end of the month is the Sizzling Summer Blood Drive, which will have prizes for donors. Meyers says the drive is a way for donors to feel appreciated.
