Steinmeyer pens book

Former Northwest Missouri State women's basketball coach Gene Steinmeyer can now list among his accomplishments publishing a book.

Steinmeyer recently completed writing a book on his 1982-83 Wilber, Nebraska high school girls basketball team that won the Nebraska Class C State Championship. In particular the book centers around the life of Brenda Florian. Steinmeyer says Florian complained of knee pain during preseason practice and had her knee examined just prior to the season and was diagnosed with a form of cancer.

The book is titled "When the Nets Came Down for Brenda" and was released today (Wednesday). Steinmeyer says the first 100 copies will be autographed with the proceeds to go to the "Make-A-Wish" Foundation.
