Rock Port Welcome Center Mural

The new Rock Port Welcome Center mural artist selection is now complete.

Matthew Dehaemers of Kansas City has been chosen to design, construct and install the artwork that will be displayed in the interior hallway. Dehaemers was chosen out of twenty applicants who applied for the position. Customer relations manager, Melissa Black says the theme of the Welcome Center is "Energy Conservation and Alternative Energy: Past & Present".

Black says portions of the mural will look similar to a quilt design.

The Rock Port Welcome Center officially opened to the public at 10am on June 27th. The center is located on Interstate 29 just south of the town of Rock Port. It's open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
