Red Cross Running Low

Not only farmers are having difficulties this summer, but the American Red Cross is experiencing a decline in the number of people donating blood.

This year the American Red Cross has hit a 15 year low in blood supply. Executive Director of Red Cross in St. Joseph, Kevin Kirby, says the summer is always a difficult time for blood donations.

Kirby says right now the Red Cross remains capable of serving any disaster that could take place, but if more blood is not donated soon, they could reach a critical level. He says it's important to donate blood during the summer when there is a blood drive near you.
